Our History

Our Foundations

River City Truck Parts was founded on August 1, 1987, by Paul Dailey and Jimmy McWhorter with a vision to build a trusted heavy-duty truck parts and diesel core supply company focused on quality, reliability, and long-term industry relationships.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Paul and Jimmy gained extensive experience in the diesel truck parts industry while working in operations across Kentucky and Tennessee. During that time, they developed deep knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drivetrain components, and the growing remanufacturing and diesel core markets.

By the mid-1980s, they recognized an opportunity to create a company dedicated to supplying quality used semi-truck parts and manufacturer-acceptable diesel cores to customers throughout the Eastern United States. In the summer of 1987, they took that opportunity and launched River City Truck Parts with an entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to operational excellence.

From the beginning, the company specialized in sourcing, inspecting, packaging, and distributing heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and associated truck components for repair shops, fleets, rebuilders, dealerships, remanufacturers, and commercial trucking operations.

Over the past 35+ years, River City Truck Parts has expanded their facilities and evolved into a leading heavy-duty diesel core supplier serving customers throughout North America and worldwide. Through hard work, strategic growth, industry expertise, and a commitment to customer relationships, the company has built a reputation for dependable service, quality inventory, and trusted core supply chain solutions.

Second Generation Leadership

Derek and Daniel McWhorter grew up immersed in the heavy-duty truck parts and diesel core industry, gaining firsthand experience through years of working alongside their father, Jimmy McWhorter. Through mentorship, hands-on operational training, and a strong work ethic, they developed deep knowledge of diesel core supply, inventory management, logistics, and the remanufacturing industry.

Committed to continuing the company’s foundation, values, and long-term vision, Derek and Daniel officially entered into an agreement in 2014 to retire co-founder Paul Dailey and assume leadership of River City Truck Parts.

Today, Derek and Daniel continue expanding upon the entrepreneurial vision established by Jimmy and Paul, leading River City Truck Parts through continued growth, operational development, and strategic investment throughout the heavy-duty trucking and diesel core supply industries.

Their focus on innovation, nationwide logistics, quality control, and customer relationships has helped position River City Truck Parts as a trusted global supplier of heavy-duty diesel cores and commercial truck components.

With customers across North America and worldwide, River City Truck Parts continues pursuing its mission to become one of the world’s leading diesel core suppliers serving remanufacturers, fleets, dealerships, rebuilders, and heavy-duty truck parts distributors.
